    How long will it last?
    Depends on your will power.

It depends on how much vinegar and sugar you put in it. Did you base it loosely on another recipe?

Ours is usually all gone within a dew days of it maturing (about 1 month), but if your willpowers better than ours, should be fine for christmas.

It's keeping properties are directly related to the amount of sugar and vinegar you use in relation to fruit and veg so can't answer without that information. Although you say you didn't use a recipe do you know what you did do? Assuming it's the right ratios then it'll keep for a good few years but if not then it might only last a week or two and not even get to the point when it's fully matured as most chutneys made now are best left until about Christmas.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

I've just opened a bottle of 2011 chutney: it's a bit young, but lovely
