OK folks, anyone any idea where I can get some quick sharp, please?

My 6 year old's birthday Saturday (should say 7) making her a 3 type chocolate birthday cake, & wanted to get some of this for the top, as a friend of hers made some cakes with this stuff on and she thought they were wonderful so wanted to surprise her....but cant find it locally or in the supermarket....??

    Any ideas??

    Thanks xx
( Oh and the friend has very helpfully gone on holiday to Florida and got stuck there )

I got it off ebay, arrived high speed, but you may be pushing it now. Maybe phone around any local cake makers, they might sell you some

      Apparently, it's not edible, it's just non-toxic.

ASDA normally do a pack of "Barbie" type cake decorations which I have used before. It had some glittery bits in as well as flowers and silver balls I think... It should be available in most supermarkets though...(or something like it!)

I'd try some of your local Cake Shops, they often also sell stuff for decorating your own.
            Good Luck.
I'd offer to send you some but can't be sure it would get to you on time.x

Edible glitter? I can't believe I've never heard of this.

I knew there was a gap in the baking cupboard.

Remember seeing it on that Kirsty's home made house programme and thought it looked well dodgy and felt that I really wouldn't want to eat it at all but then again I am no longer an almost 7 year old girl............

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

I can't believe you hadn't...you and your girlies definately need some in your lives!!!

It is rather wonderful, girlie cakes always get a sprinkling in my house but it's also good for plain biscuits.I sprinkle it on my Christmas tree biscuits.

Nerobot is right its not edible as such just non toxic. So it will pass through and leave you unharmed but with sparkly poo. Get it in most cake decoarating shops.

There are lustures as well which can give a shiny look to icing when painted or brushed on.

True edible glitter look for a stuff called Magic sparkle. It comes in different colours although not as nice as the glitter. I think its made from cornstarch but would have to check with my Techincal girl at work and it may even be made with natural colours. Looks good on top of fairy cakes.

I have two little ones still in nappies. Anything to make changing them that bit more entertaining.

Thanks for everyone's help and especially andi&di
Unfortunately the shop I went to only had catering packs left (ie ten jars in each) so I didnt manage to get any intime.
However - I made her an ultimate chocolate cake - dark chocolate sponge, white chocolate filling and icing and decorated with milk chocolate buttons - luckily she said it was the best birthday cake she had ever had in her whole life
                          So everyone's happy

Shame you couldn't get the glitter, but sounds like the doubly chocolatey cake more than made up for it
