  • Don't try this at home...YUK!!!!

Having finally cleared last years potato patch of weeds, we gathered up the 'lost' potatoes from last year which had started growing.
They looked firm and of decent size....and not being a wasteful sort of lass...... I cooked them and poured over an onion, bacon and cheese topping.
    Smelled great.......

    Oh YUK !!!!!!!

The spuds weren't just tasteless, but fibrous , rubbery and watery.

Seemed such a waste- but having to swallow a plateful of that stuff was hard going!

    Learn from my experience folks!!!

    Hi

Was it last years actual potatoes; or the new potatoes that grew from them?

They were the ones which grew from last years seed potatoes....it's because they'd sprouted quite a lot (6" of healthy top growth) which made them yuk!

....we just had to go to the pub to recover!!!

          Nicos,
don't take this the wrong way, but if you 'cleared the site' properly you wouldn't have had to ask the question,

Yeah, you can't eat them once they've started sprouting - every day's a school day, huh.
