  • Digestive biscuits

We've packets and packets of them in our whirlygig.

Short of making the ubiquitous cheesecake base - what else would you do with them (other than dunking them in your tea - we don't drink it).

Well. LadyWayne was going to make the Nigella gutbuster thingy. Then she ate the chocolate ice cream.

Also, never mention to LW's mum that you might want/fancy something. You'll end up with hundreds of 'em. As have we.

SarzWix posted this on a different thread:

          1lb digestives (well crushed)
8oz cooking choc (plain or milk)
          8oz marg
          397g tin condensed milk.

Melt choc & marg in large pan, mix in the condensed milk, then the digestive crumbs, combine well and pour into swiss roll tins. Set in fridge then cut into chunks. Freezes very well.

and this one from Hilary B:

              Banoffee bites. Makes 15

half a tin of Condensed Milk, Caramel
              10 digestive biscuits, crushed
              about 100gms dried bananas
              Chocolate for covering

Warm the condensed milk in a bowl over hot water
Stir in the biscuits and the pieces of banana, allow to cool until manageable.
IT WILL BE STICKY, handle with wet hands!
Divide into fairly even sized pieces, each with 2 pieces of banana, and make into balls (about golfball size worked).
Place on baking parchment, NOT TOUCHING EACH OTHER.
Put in freezer for a couple of hours.
Melt chocolate, take freezing cold 'bites' and dip in chocolate. The cold should set the chocolate quickly.
              That's it!

Most things you can make with digestives are too sweet for my taste. I'd probably end up giving them to the birds, who'd then have heart attacks because of the salt!

I do love a bit of strong cheddar on a digestive biscuit, but I'd also like to see my 40th birthday.

Have a charity coffee morning, and give them away with every cuppa...
Donate them to the church/ village hall/your lottie committee...

I dunno, I'd still eat them myself if it were me

I'd post them to you, but I'm not sure how well you can dunk digestive crumbs in a cup of tea.

Errmm, no, p'raps not. But I'm not a 'dunker' anyway. Like you, I like cheddar on a sweet biscuit (those Hovis ones in the savoury biscuit selection boxes are my favourite - woe-be-tide anyone who tries to eat one!!).

I like cheese on my digestives too, but then I toast them under the grill.....hmmm delicious.
