  • Breadfree pizza base

We're not really eating bread (wife has gone gluten free, I've never been that keen on shop bought bread anyway) - so my wife made this last night.. which was suprisingly nice (I'm not at all keen on cauliflower).

1 cauliflower whizzed until powder like in food processor.
Mix with 1 cup gram flour (any flour would be ok, gram flour is ground chickpeas)
    Juice of one lemon
    Tablespoon of Tahini.
Add 1/4 cup of cold water slowly.

Press in to baking tray and cook at 180 for 30 mins.

Add toppings then cook for 10 more mins.

That looks lovely Chris, probably less fattening than normal pizza dough too.

It does look scrummy but gram flour has more carbs than wheat flour so will be more fattening.

I might try that with flax flour though!

Another less fattening option is to flatten a chicken breast and use that as the base of the pizza. Yummy

Can't get my head around that at all but then again I'm a meat reducer as I believe we eat too much if it to be sustainable and always tended to do a veggie based pizza anyway so that probably makes a difference.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

i can not understand why anyone would want to go gluten free. My son was diagnosed with coeliacs disease aged 3 and has no option ,but he would love to eat bread and such like

Yes, at a fiver a pack flax meal is not cheap but when I'm on a zero carbs diet it is the best substitute I've found!

I use it for flat breads for curries etc. and although it does not make replicas of chapatis it does allow curries to be carb free. Never found it worth having as a "bread" substitute.

Never had any adverse effects on me though - didn't even realise it could do!
