Today's Pick was Lettuce - as I have a GH full of self seeded ones.
Normally, I eat just a few leaves at a time, in a mixed salad for example. Not today, oh No, today I had a lettuce sandwich! A filling of leaves at least an inch thick, between 2 slices of buttered bread.
Pressed together firmly, to stop the Great Escape, it was surprisingly delicious.

Lettuce, you deserve more appreciation than you get. You're not just a garnish, you're a meal in your own right.
Thank you Lettuce for always being there when I need you.

Yesterday, it was more of the onions that I ate a couple of days ago. Thank you onions you were just as delicious this time.

Today, a bunch of the freshest, most succulent, strangely shaped, randomly sown carrots were pulled from the C bed. They came from the soil glowing, like the finest gemstones. A quick scrub and dunk in boiling water and they were on my plate and they tasted divine.
Thank you carrots, you made my meal something special tonight.

Just like you Chrissy, I've picked my first slender rhubarb sticks. Only 3 but enough to turn the cooking water a glorious pink. Add a generous dollop of yogurt and it was divine.
Thank you rhubarb, some say you're a vegetable but you'll always be the first fruit of the year to me.

Today I pulled a giant parsnip from its bucket. Such a beautiful parsnip, perfect creamy skin without a blemish. Lush green foliage, undamaged by weather or pests.
Roasted with some garden onions it was sublime.

Thank you parsnip, your sacrifice was not in vain, you were perfect and I hope your remaining siblings in the other buckets will be your equal.
