Now I know that Rosie Sadie and Dotsie are Mrs Palm and The Agony Aunts - I'm just lost with Audrey and Autumn. They're not Non Disc names are they?

Jeeeez, some of you really put effort into your girls' names! My first ex-batt to be named was Rosie, because it rhymes with nosey, and she was the first into everything, then there's Ginger, coz she's Ginger, Ruby, coz she's redder and has a red leg ring, Cocky, coz she struts around like a Cockerel, Scruffy, coz she was the last to moult and looked a complete mess, Little one, coz she was the smallest, that's how it goes...

OK, so I've not put much thought as some of you, into naming them, but when I asked for suggestions prior to getting the 'Laydees,' someone on here said 'They'll name themselves!' and they did!

We once had a goose known as Marge, because she had a blue leg ring........ (OH has that sort of sense of humour!)

Well, I HAD 9 ex-batts, 2 Bluebelles and 2 Black Stars (till the fox visited!) and they all had flower/plant names - Myrtle, Hazel, Hyacinth, Poppy, Pansy, Marigold, Honeysuckle, Bluebell, Lavender, Daisy, Violet, Iris, Holly. The Welsummer chicks were/are Rowan, Aspen, Snowdrop, Daffodil, Hebe, Olive, Blossom, Petal. The new Bluebelles I've got are Basil, Sybil, Polly, Marjorie and Butterfly (named by a granddaughter!). And the 7 ex-batt ladies still haven't got names I'm waiting for names that "fit" I think. I've also now got 5 chicks, 1 Jersey Giant called JG, 1 Black Minorca called BM, and 3 Vorwerks, 1 called Shelly (granddaughter watched it hatching and named it straight away) the other 2 as yet unnamed.

Well, here goes for my lot:

Wellington - Welsummer cock (head honcho)
                              Wendy
                              Wanda
Wilhemina (getting the idea of a theme here? - all are Welsummers)
                              Henrietta
Pippy (so named because she needed helping at hatching and made lots of pip pip noises)
Legless (don't ask - she does have 2 legs)
all of the above Welsummers too - we ran out of names beginning with W

                              Mavis - Cuckoo Maran
Pretty - RIR x Buff Sussex (had a sister called Ugly who is no more)
Phyllis - Welsummer X Buff Sussex
                              Barbie - ditto
                              Lola - ditto

Wheeze and Sneeze aka Grant and Phil Mitchell - 2 young Welsummer cocks, named as one had a cold for a short time when v small

                              The bantams:

Toy Boy - Heinz 57 cock (the Boss)
Mrs Pepperpot - ? Norfolk Grey but can't be certain
Sidney and Selwyn - Light Sussex cocks (brothers)
                              Dora
                              Flora
                              Tiny
                              Sunny - all LS hens

4 LS crosses (hens) - all looking identical so just known collectively as "the greys"

5 as yet unamed Welsummer chicks as not sexed yet

9 bantam chicks, so far only one hen named Jemima because my OH thinks she looks like a duck!

Hopefully some more Welsummers and Cream Legbars on the way.
