  • Update on Nearly Headless Nick

Some of you may remember my lavender araucana chick who had the troubles with an upside-down head. Well the vets advice was..not contagious, probably nerve damage due to having got stuck in the cage somehow. Wait and see.
Well I've just been taking some more pics and thought I'd show him to all. Cute chick

    And now

And I can happily report that although it took until early May for his symptoms to vanish completely, they did. He is now as should be and even if starled he doesn't 'flip' anymore. Actually he's a little sweetie who likes to come and sit with me for a stroke. Only one of mine who asks for fuss, all the others don't mind, but don't ask. Ooops apart from Moonshine who sits in my feet and likes being tucked under my arm and carried.

Am I right in believing that any of his progeny should lay blue eggs? Worth keeping for that alone!

Snadger as far as I know all Araucana's are blue egg layers, so he should carry the colour.
I'd love some more, and a farmer close to where we are moving to breeds them..(he calls them 'them sort of grey aracana'), and as it happens he really wants some cream legbars..so we may swop eggs, if he likes my girls.
Now I think thats a good price

Good idea to put those marbly things in the chick water - much easier to clean than garden pebbles.....................
