  • Squeaky toy chook!

I'm not sure which one of my lovely ladies does and it only happens when I feed the evening corn but one of them makes a loud squeaking noise that sounds just like pet toy but short and sharp!! Is it just joy at eating corn, which is definitely their fav. food or have I got one that just isn't quite right?

I'd take it as a sound of appreciation (until proved otherwise of course )

Is it a chook with a cold/cough/sneezing? My Welcock bantam is sneezing occasionally and when it does it sounds like a sharp trumpet! quite funny to hear but nonetheless it is sneezing.

If it only happens when they are getting their evening corn chances are she's just gobbled it a bit too quickly, got a bit stuck and will have a sort of cough/sneeze to clear the tubes again. Mine do it from time to time when having their evening treat too.

One of mine does it when she sees me with sweet corn! I take it as a squeak of delight!

That's good to hear as one of mine has been doing that for months but only at evening corn time! And she's a greedy one.

Well they do gobble it so quickly, and yes it is the only time I've heard the noise-no sneezing at other times. Sort of sounds like she (whichever one it is) is being poked with a sharp stick! I need to sit this evening and listen and watch
