  • Olive eggs!!

My two Welsummer x Araucana girls have come into lay in the last couple of weeks. I'm not sure which one lays which eggs, but I have a feeling that Penny is laying brown eggs with blue speckles (very pretty) but Tuppence is laying a true OLIVE coloured egg They look fabulous in the tray of pale brown, light brown, dark brown, white and blue eggs, though someone did say they wouldn't fancy eating it because of the disgusting colour

Really must try and get a picture so you can see what I mean
My girls found their way into my heart and now they nest there

They sound really. Disgusting? What like Khaki? Sounds like a camouflage egg!

I'd eat 'em! Congrats on the eggs. I get a real assortment of colours now, too - they look like C*dbury Mini Eggs, but bigger!

One of my bantams is laying olive coloured eggs - not sure which one though. It could be, I think, one of three - Silkie, Salmon favarolle cross or white orpington.

I do have a great little assorted basket of eggs now, from lovely brown eggs from hybrids, to varying shades of brown/beige, through to almost white, and then my lovely green egg!! You don't get that at the supermarket! It's worth all the cleaning out and going out in all weathers don't you think.
