  • missing feathers

Hope someone can help with what is happening to Daphne - she is missing feathers - look like they are broken off all round her bottom, a bit on her back and some on her wings. Have put pics to show it.

    Thanks

Looks like new feather growth, to me. She may have had a partial moult?

Yep...tis what it looks like to me too...nothing to worry about

Our Legbars are moulting at the minute...look like proper little scruffbags!

The time to worry is when the tips of feathers look like they've been nibbled...a sign of mites, but your girls feathers look really healthy.

As the others have said, she is just moulting and the spiky bits are new feathers. Nothing to worry about.

Thanks all. It is strange as I haven't seen any lost feathers lying about.
I was a bit worried one of the others was pulling them out!

None of mine have moulted yet and we have had them 2 1/2 years so didn't know that this was what it looked like.

relieved cos thought she was poorly and she is my fave

Should I give her anything special to help her along?

You can give them all a bit of Poultry Spice, if you have some. Although, mine don't seem to like it!
