  • Lucky horeshoe in henhouse...

    Bit of advice please!!!

We have just rejointed the stones which make up the pigsty we are converting into the henhouse...and have part of a 17th Century horseshoe sticking out into the inside of the building.
Obviously put into the wall when it was being built to ward off evil or something!
Problem is that it's sharp and I'm concerned the chooks might cut themselves on it. It only sticks out of the wall by 3" max in a C shape, and I really don't want to damage it.
Should I just leave it ( being paranoid) . I had thought of pushing a cork onto it -or will the chooks think it's worth playing with the cork and cut their beaks?

      *out of breath from running*

Knee height....do you think I could build the nesting boxes resting above it????

(It's the round bit that's thin and sharp)

if you can do that, or put them in front of it, i'm sure it will be fine, they'll probably ignore it, just cos you're in a flap lol, but i think it's best to cover it if you can.

You can't remove it - just imagine the handwringing and tutting you will have to put up with......
          I'd cover it.
          Tx

It'd probably be worse than breaking a mirror- or opening a brolly in the house!!!

                  - nah...I'd never tempt fate like that!!!

Mind you- the previous owners of this house found a pair of scissors opened and pointing downwards hidden in a wall- something to do with warding off the devil ( mid 1700's)- and they threw it out being religious 'n all that!

Yep- I'll have a gentle go but it is pretty fragile....got to look after my new babies without casting a curse upon them ( most likely to be in the form of a fox!)
