Laying and sleeping??

can chickens lay and sleep at the same time? I walked in the feed room this morning (we have some nest boxes in there) and snowy was in the nest box with her head in her wing but she looked as if she was laying an egg! is this normal? Do any of your chickens lay eggs in there sleep?

well i went into the chook house yesterday and there was an egg under the perch ... presumably laid by neva in her sleep ... unless she did it as she got out of bed and didn't make the nest box ?
