    Just Wondering....

    ....Given the choice, do chooks like to stay in their houses later in Winter than in Summer?

    I have problems waking myself on the dark winter mornings, but can be up and about by 4.30am - ish in the summer months. I just wondered if anyone has observed different seasonal behaviour in their chooks?

    Bought our hen house & run, it arrives on Friday! Going to gloss paint the inside of the house before collecting our chooks.

    I think they wake up with the light - much like you!

    Surprisingly (I thought) mine stay in the shade of the house in the strong sun and don't like to sunbathe whereas in the winter they would get into the sun as much as possible.

    Can chickens get sunburnt?

      They wake at dawn and go to bed at dusk so in the winter they might only get about 8 hours of daylight, but they cope with it
      My girls found their way into my heart and now they nest there
