    help with measurements am making house this minute!!!

    hi

    can you help me anyone, hubby is building house as we speak and need to confirm perch measurement. the measurement from floor of house to perch is 14inches high. from perch to roof is 15 inches high. do you think this is okay for two chickens. 1, could they jump to perch (having wings clipped) and 2, they won't bash their heads will they??? please help asap. thanks all.

    I would say that even chickens are not so daft that they will bump their heads more often than necessary. Bear in mind that all the recommendations are to start with 3 hens though so that if something goes awry you are not left with a solitary bird.

      As long as your perch height is above your nestbox height or else the chooks will sleep in the nest boxes!
      You don't want them doing that because when they sleep........they poo!

        Sounds ok to me. As Snadger says, put the next boxes below the perch - they still might sleep in the nest boxes though!
