I have 3 brahmas and from day one they have always laid brown eggs. All of a sudden, literally over night, 2 of them have decided to lay white eggs instead!

Why is this?! I haven't changed their diet, they all seem perfectly happy and well. The stupid things did sit out in the rain all bank holiday but they do that all the time (at their own free will) and that hasn't effected them before.

Can someone please come up with any suggestions to why this has happened. I haven't tried the white eggs yet so I don't know what the inside is like but it looks the same as a brown egg from the outside.

    Thanks

Can't help on the egg colour change but my two hybrids normally lay brown eggs and every so offten will lay a pale, chalky one - I think it is because those are the eggs due shortly after the fox has been sniffing around in the night and while the girls are safe it does, obviously, disturb them.

Could there have been a disturbance in the night that you were unaware of?

By the way - I looked up Brahmas and it said a tinted egg, not brown.... Are you just lucky or is the info I found wrong?

      thanks for that.

There is a vixen on the allotment with a cub, as far as I know they haven't been anywhere near but its possible.

I checked the coop this morning and the chicken has reverted back to a brown egg as if by magic!
