  • bluebell chicken chicken

My bluebelle chicken has been a bit quiet for the last 3 or 4 days eating but not as livery as the others, today she was laying an egg and when I went and checked, it was yolk only no shell any where to be seen, has anyone else experienced this, or know of this.

    thanks

Probably just a blip in the laying system but you need to make sure she hasn't retained any shell or membrane as this would give rise to an infection. Was the yolk complete or broken? If she's been quiet for a few days she may have been trying to lay it. With no shell its much more difficult. Check her vent very carefully and if you're unsure I'd take her to the vet to be certain its clear.

the yolk was broken but she may have broken it, I thought she had already laid today as I think her egg is the speckled one but not sure unleass she laid late yesterdeay afternoon, went back down at 4.00 she seems better than a couple of days ago played chased the worm with others but lost. will check on her tomorrow morning on the way to work at 6.30 ,when she come out of the chicken house her back was clean.
