I just realised I have been promising various people on here a video of the chooks since I got them (March 08).

    FINALLY!!!

YouTube - Morland Road Allotments Chickens (Oct 2008)

And they're featured on our company website Riches Creative Design : Design Print Web Screen Printing T Shirts Sign Makers Ipswich Suffolk. It's a long story if you want to know why but it is all becuase of a well known business networking magazine that they will be featured in :-)

Black Rocks have a reputation for being good winter layers! Some of yours appear to have blood red combs so you should be getting quite a few eggs?

        From 5 hens I get 4 or 5 eggs a day.

Winter I shall expect the same :-) I have got a lamp ready...

Thanks matthew! Now you're going to need a decent recipe book for ideas on what to do with all those eggs

There really should be a law introduced about posting pics of good looking chooks on a forum with already addicted chook keepers!!!Black Rocks now put on the list of "wants"!!!!Where did you get them?

Black Rock hens can only be purchased from specialist growers. Do a Google search for Black Rock Hens and you will see the website. On the site is a map that shows the various places in the UK where they can be purchased from.

In my opinion - they really are the best ever laying bird.

I hope that my 5 will be the most famous black rock's in a few weeks time as they are going to be published in a business magazine! That should turn a few heads...

Oh my God! I have lived happily in my house for 31 years and now when I should be thinking of downsizing I want a bigger garden so I can have more chooks. Stop posting all these lovely piccies and videos. (only joking I love seeing all of them) I never even thought of having chickens until I saw the Jamie Oliver and Hugh F W programmes and got my 6 ex-batts. Now would love more and more.

We 'downsized' to a bigger house with a bigger garden when the kids had both left home. It gave us room for all our hobby stuff!
