  • What else can I grow

I live in a flat with a very small garden so I have been growing chillis indoors in my heated and unheated propegator. There is room for me to put a few growbags outside but Im afraid thats it.

Is there anything other than chillis I could try and grow and any techniques needed?

    Hi

I've moved your thread out of Growing Techniques into an appropriate board.

    Many Thanks

You can grow most things in a growbag - as long as you water it! Lettuce, tomatoes, strawberries, courgettes, cucumbers, radishes, the round carrots, spring onions, turnips.
In deeper pots beans, carrots, chard, spinach, beetroot.
You will also have to feed as the nutrients in compost only last about 6 weeks
Welcome to the vine, where are you in the country?

Growbags are rubbish ... too shallow.

If you must, then cut them in half and up-end them, so you have 2 deeper bags with an open top.

Really though, it's cheaper & better to get a 120litre bale of multi-purpose and some pots (check Freecycle if you're skint).

Type "vertical gardening" into the YouTube search engine. That might help, I found a pretty amazing DIY balcony setup on videos there.

The others have already given you some good ideas on what to grow so check out this thread about getting some free or cheap Morrisons' Flower Buckets like Two_Sheds says grow bags can be a bit shallow.

I guess it will be on I player, but it was more or less as simple as it sounds. They stuck tape - not sellotape, something stronger - all around the centre of the bag so they could make a clean cut through the plastic. Fold the bag in half as best you can and then cut through, starting at the top.

I'm sure you would find it much cheaper to buy multi purpose compost in cheap or free flower buckets/containers.

It might be a bit late to sow them now but sweet peppers, tomatoes and aubergines are similar to grow to chilli's. You could get small plants though. I've all four growing inside on window sills. Just gradually putting them out on a roof terrace now as they get bigger.

lots of herbs - cheap and easy, lots better than the supermarket, less thirsty so if you miss a days watering they will survive
