  • Too cold for new seedlings in unheated plastic "greenhouse?"

Hi - I know there are a few questions around seeds and germination, i've a slightly different one..
I've planted tom' & flower seeds on the window sill and after a week or so they've come up, but some were too leggy so I've thrown them and tried some again, this time with a tin foil "light box" around them to try and combat the lack of light, but is it too cold to put these seedlings in an unheated plastic 5ft "greenhouse" thing (southfacing against a wall) during the day? I know they can't be covered with a lid anymore but would they still freeze/die during the day even if I kept it fully zipped up?
I don't think my light box is really stopping my tom's from going too quickly.
    Let me know
    Cheers

re the flower seeds - it depends what they are? Hardy? etc?

Depending on type , flower and tomato seedlings have very different requirements of cultivation

Pretty much all toms will get leggy at this time of year - so don't sow them just to throw them out!

And, what Pisk said.......what flower types are you trying to grow?

I have lots of leggy seedlings (due to me being impatient) & have potted them on deep. They all seem to be doing fine. Can't see the point in throwing them if they are not dead.
