  • Sweet Pepper plants

    Hullo...

    I have several sweet pepper seedlings so I put some out in the mini greenhouse yesterday as we are having such warm weather (blip in the bad weather is luckily right across our part of Scotland)...

    The ones in the house had kind of stalled and nothign was happening with them though they seemed healthy enough.

    When I checked this morning the ones in the greenhouse already looked much perkier and slightly bigger after only 24 hours out there,

    Am I being a bit optimistic in thinking that I should stick them all out?? I don't want to ruin them all as they took ages to germinate and come on.

    Any pepper advice appreciated!

    Mine have been in an unheated greenhouse since they were a couple of inches high. They should be fine out there. Blips in the weather shouldn't hurt if they're in a greenhouse. Just make sure that you don't get the leaves wet as they could scorch in the sun. Water from the bottom, or use a can with the rose removed and just stick it on the soil.

        Ripening peppers

        I have a pepper plant which has grown 2 peppers. The peppers stopped growing having reached full size a few weeks a go, but havent begun to turn red yet- is there a way of ripening them or shall i just leave them longer?

          You can use them green, Mushroom, or you can just leave them on the plant to turn red (or whatever colour your variety goes when ripe). The trouble is if you leave them on the plant, it may start to sulk and not produce any more fruit. I would pick and use them green.
