  • Spud varieties

My spuds that i have been chitting have managed to get mixed up, i have sorted them all out except the kestrel and Estima.

Does anyone know how to tell them apart, one lot has green shoots, and the other have very dark purple, almost black, any ideas ?

    Rob.

The potato database has a pic of Kestrel sprouts, which it describes as blue at the base
    The British Potato Variety Database
but not of Estima, but it describes their sprouts as pink at the base

Yes, I reckon the Kestrel will have the purple shoots.

Thanks Thelma for the link It seems that Kestrel have purple flowers and Estima white. So if you don't know now which is which, you will at flowering time!

And you'll know when you dig them up.
