    Evening all,

    My potatoes have started to flower..does this mean they are ready to harvest?

      I'd leave them until the flowers start to die. That's when I would harvest my potatoes.

      You can check on them now, they would only be salad potato size but if you wanted them bigger I would wait until the plant starts to die.

        Some potatoes never flower. It also depends on the variety, are yours early, mid or Main crop? when did you plant them. One of the best storage places is in the ground (or container) they were grown in, so I use mine when I need them to eat. early potatoes planted at the start of April could well be ready now, the others probably need more time to reach a decent size. Have a furtle (Investigate by hand) to see whats there.

          I planted 12 pots up, in the cold greenhouse in early march and dragged em out on nice days. They have been out since mid April but no sign of flowers. But yesterday I had a furtle and plucked 3lbs of super tatties and felt lots at the bottom of the pots.
          Had some for dinner today and they were wonderful....
          roll on next weekend
