  • Paris Silverskin Onions

    Hello,

I have quite a few of these little onions grown from seed in modules & planted in the veg patch in small clumps, but i am unsure when to harvest them.

I plan on pickling them & don't want them to get too big - they are now getting ping-pong ball sized but their top leaf growth is still very healthy looking. Do i wait for this to die down like normal bigger onions or do i just harvest them now?

    Many thanks,

      Hi Newbie
Just pick them as and when they reach the size you're looking for.
You don't need to wait for the foliage to die back.

If you wait for the foliage to die back they will have reached their ultimate size.
If you are happy with the size they are now go ahead and pick them.
Theres no hard and fast rule when to pick onions unless you want them really big in which case you wait for the foliage to die back, and then they are at their max.

And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.
