  • Lunar Planting.

    Hi,

I'l like to start planting by the moon. I've sorted out the cycle and where we are in it but I'm not sure which bit corresponds to the...fruit, roots, leaves and is there another section? Does anyone know or know a good site please?
    thanks

        Hi
Just noticed this thread. I swear by it. The cycle goes root flower leaf fruit root; but there are some days that shouldn't be used for anything due to the forces of nature. So today is a leaf day, so is tomorrow; so if i was going to do anything today or tomorrow it would be to sow leaf crops, plant out leaf crops, thin them out etc. Saturay and sunday are friut, so i will repot up my tomato tree, cut back the toms and courgettes, and anything else that needs doing to fruit type plants. The it is roots on mon and tues, and flowers on weds and thurs. The change to leaf comes at 7am on friday 7th sept; and the next no planting day is on the 10th.
I use the diary by Nick Kollerstrom; it is fab and you can make notes year round - it also tells you what to do when; and amazingly things that i do naturally or because they need doing correspond with the diary.
The websites i used weren't much help - they just gave general advice, whereas the book is specific and takes lates/earlies and overwintering into account.
I tried trialling moon and non-moon - just by making notes and the non-moon stuff was definitely not as good as the moon stuff. not scientific though as we moved inbetween so next year i am doing a proper trial.
I found most interesting that seeds of crops more often than not showed on their actual day, so when i sowed onions, their little seedlings showed up on a root day - i have been many times straight to the book to check it and it happened so many times this year, it was astounding.
