    I have so many seeds!

    Not sure where to put this but thought New Shoots might be the best place, since I am new to all of this.

    I just typed out a list of my seeds, so I could keep track of what I have and when/where it will be planted, before I go off to Lidl again today and buy some more :-) I got most of these seeds for 'free' (paying p&p, or with gardening magazines), or cheap at Lidl.

            This is a very common Irish figure of speech, used to indicate the insignificance of one entity with respect to another.
            For example, to my embarrassment, I would not attempt to even start to type out mine

              Ahhh...you're only just starting with a list that length!
              Most of those packets will last a couple of years or more.
              Last year we decided to only buy new carrot and parsnip seeds and use up old seeds....and we still have loads of opened packets!

              Hold your head up with pride Indigo...that's a fine start of a collection!!

                I remember these days. It was last weekend.

                Wait until you start with "I'm sure I had..." before you can't find them so buy some more THEN find 2 or 3 packets of what you'd just bought.

                  That's good to hear, I thought I had far too many! I can see how this could get out of hand, there are so many different varieties to try and it is very tempting to buy more, especially at 20p a packet :-)

                    Somehow it just doesn't seem right to come out of any GC or shop or market or anywhere selling seeds without buying some.

                    And I don't always 'remember' what I have already, so buy more!

                    You can always set up a little market stall Indigo, and sell your surpluses ( bet you don't tho)

                      I have a seed box, it is stuffed. So now I also have a seed large padded envelope, it is full. So now I also have a seed old tin tea caddy it is filling rapidly. So now I think I need a seed room.....

                          There's no shame in being a seedaholic...honest!

                          I have 2 (full) seedboxes and a spreadsheet to help me keep track. I'm not sure how I will cram in 19 different types of winter squash, but that appears to be the plan...till Spring happens and all plans go out the window in a race to fill the beds and greenhouse. (note to self: need to put up greenhouse first!)

                              Wait until you start seedsaving, you will use a few seeds from one bought packet and save the seeds from them. The following year you know you should continue to sow from the original packet as they are the oldest but you just HAVE to test out your saved ones. This goes on year on year until you have the original packet of tomato seeds and then the 2008/SS 2009/SS..... you get my drift lol.

                              I had a right good clear out of my seed tin at the end of last year, typed up a spreadsheet, gave loads away and swapped some. Still a lot of work to be done on trimming it down but it's getting there.
