Could anyone tell me if micro-mesh would be a good investment for the vegetable garden, or would I be better sticking with a good quality fleece

It is certainly longer lasting than fleece and can be machine washed. Not sure of it's thermal properties though. -
This year I used 3 meter debris netting, this sort of stuff: Blue Debris Netting 3m x 50m - 80GSM, available from lots of places and pretty cheap for a big roll. It worked really well, kept the caterpillars and pigeons off my brassicas just fine.Comment

If I put anything from the garden into get washed I would get strung up.

I've just bought a pair of curtains from that Swedish store for £5 LILL Sheer curtains, 1 pair - IKEA They're huge for the money - 280cm x 300cm. I think Nicos recommended them
