  • How do your organise your seed packets?

    Afternoon all,

I was just wondering how you organise your seed packets to keep track of everything?

I have a lot of seed packets and it seems a little overwhelming!

    Many thanks,

    Samuel

Ha, I had mine all organised, in an old biscuit tin, standing upright, in the order they could be planted/sown, then once sown, move them back to next month if necessary to make further sowings, this is kind of working. But.... well we'll see if it continues,am also trying to make sure I record when I've sown what.

I've tried mine in alphabetical order, by month but now they're in a box so i can rummage through them just like I used to with buttons and marbles.

Most of mine are just chucked in a box too, and ones I plan on sowing soon are in a tub in the fridge (hoping the change in temp will help matters)

Rummage in a biscuit tin. Date order is fine but then sometimes I start em off under glass. I can always tell the ones I've got at as the tops been ripped off the packet.

The wife has the proper partitioned seed box which is kept in order.
                Pretty boring really!

Spreadsheet with sowing dates, vegetable seeds sorted by type, other seeds by supplier (variety of packet sizes from tiny zip-local bags to large envelopes with an A5 description sheet attached, so would be hard to put them in alphabetical order!

I have a seed tin and have a diary which I also plan my sowing in, still a case of organised chaos in practice but that's probably me.

I split my flower seeds packets between annuals and perennials
Sow the perennials in pots month by month as the packets says
Annuals will get sowed outside in containers and or the borders as and when I see fit

My theory is the perennials will establish whilst the annuals are for a season

Vegetable seeds will be sown as and when per calendar month .

Another rummage and biscuit tin gal here - no delusions of organisation whatsoever!

Looks like im pretty organised then!! I have a folder/binder with plastic A4 wallets each one labelled in the top right with each month. once a month has elapsed i move it to the back of the folder to make a rotation?????.oh yeh...i forgot. i put my seeds in their packets in the plastic wallets and if a packet can be used over a few months i plant what i want for that month then move it into next months wallet

Bretty, I would love to be that organised.

I'm a rummage the biscuit tin grower too. However, this year I typed up a spreadsheet to try and curb ordering duplicate seeds (which is why I had to use a second biscuit tin). I now look at the spreadsheet then rummage for the oldest packet first
