Hardening off on a north-facing balcony

Just as the thread title says, really!

My various seedlings have done really well growing on a lovely south-facing windowsill. Now they're ready for hardening off, I'm a bit concerned as the only outdoor space I have is a north-facing balcony. Will the light they get there be sufficient until they're ready to plant out on my allotment?

Should be - it's what I have too. They will slow down, but there should still be enough light while they harden off. Definitely bring them in at night for the first few days though - I have lost 4 squashes by forgetting to do that. And watch out for thrip/aphid infestations cos there are fewer insects foraging in the heights and for wind. I've found it can be a lot blowier on the balcony than at ground level. (I'm on the third floor)

Those are minimal downsides if they are only going to be there for a short time though.
