  • Ground cover recommendations

I have a steep sloping bank at the side of my garden 15' long x 6'. It is north facing and gets no sun but isn't overlooked. Just cleared it of weeds and need something to cover the earth to stop it slipping. I have tried searches on line but can't think what is suitable.
Any help welcome. Perennial would be best and with flowers if possible.
    Thanks
    Rob

I planted Comfrey Bocking 14 in a similar site in my garden - the bumbles like it and you can use it a supplementary feed or just add it to your compost heap - easiest way to increase is by planting pieces of root. You do need to keep the weeds from round it for a year or so, until it gets cracking.

Field beans would also make the ground rich in nitrogon and you can cut off the tops to make compost.

Something like raspberries and goosberries might do well in that location too.

          Thanks,
I was thinking more of perennial flowers but you've given me more to think about, fruit, bushes or comphrey. Off to a local garden centre to check them out.

Geranium phaeum grows well on a north facing aspect

I also have creeping comfrey (symphytum grandiflorum) which has rhizomes rather than deep tap roots and is low growing and early spring flowering.

            Endless wonder.
