  • Green manure fail

So I covered one bed in Green manure seeds which grew nicely, then something eat the green manure leaves and left me with a bed full of nutsedge grass with the purple stem! No other bed has nutsedge grass, strange.

I managed to spend a good three hours pulling out individual grasses and I think I'm back on top.

    Anyone else come across this?

What sort of green manure seeds did you sow? Maybe you should ask the supplier if there was a problem?

I could understand something eating the green manure, for example if it's mustard then cabbage butterfly caterpillars will eat it, but being left with a bed of sedge is very strange...

It was a branded packet from a Dobbies garden centre. Wish I had kept the packet if that was indeed the problem. I hand plucked most of it out yesterday and next year I'm all no dig so I will chalk it up and ride on!
