  • Floppy salad leaves

I sowed some mixed salad leaves and some mizuna and put them on the window sill a few weeks ago. They germinated quickly, but as soon as they got to about 1 inch tall they just lay over on the compost and refused to get up! They are growing but are still sprawled on the compost and not upright. They are very spindly and look more like cress than salad leaves. Any ideas what has gone wrong? I thought salad leaves were supposed to be easy to grow and ideal for a kitchen window sill?

At a guess in this weather not enough light.

I wondered if that might be the reason.

At least I can blame the weather for all my failures this year. I will sow some more (after I've sown some baby carrots for the 3rd time)
