I accidentally eft them out last night. So gutted. They were cucumbers and bush tomatoes. They weren't eaten by anything but I don't even know how cold it was. Thankfully misty rather than frosty today. Do they stand a chance?

They'll flop and wither if the cold has got to them.
If they just flop, they may recover over the next couple of days.
Having said that, it's still very early in the season, so plenty of time to start again

I think you'll find that growth stops completely, and then they'll die. What temp was it last night?
I think Zazen grows tomatoes in the unheated greenhouse when it's a min of 10c (that's day and night).

I think it depends on how long it was cold for. If it fell to, say, 8C or 6C for only a couple of hours, and then heated up (in a blow-away for example) then I think the plants ill recover. (Much colder than that and they will be gonners
), but below 10C every night / frequently, e.g. in an unheated greenhouse, would do the damage.

P.S. you could look on Wunderground for a [amateur] weather station near you to see what temperature it was overnight - or just wait-and-see, as you can't do much about what has already happened, sadly.

Goodness me, in my opinion it's not nearly warm enough yet to put tomatoes or cucumbers outside even during the day. Certainly leaving them out overnight as well won't have done them any good.Comment
