  • Acanthus mollis - Bears Breeches

    Evening all!

Any tips on getting rid of this plant?

It was in our small front garden when we moved in 10yrs ago and i am STILL trying to remove it after all this time!

I have tried digging it up, covering it up and for the past 2yrs every bit of new leaf gets sprayed with weedkiller.

    It still keeps coming

Never even heard of it - but may i ask what weedkiller you are using and where on the plant you are spraying it?

      Hi Matt,

      Copious amount of Roundup..

I have sprayed all over the leaves and stem on a dry day and re spraying any remaining green areas a couple of days later. I then leave it to completely die down for a few weeks before removing.

I'd dig it up and sell it [like I do with my horseradish]...on ebay. At least then it's funding other activities.

I like it too and don't find it invasive - it is a bit spiky though. I cherish mine!!
