  • Rain, rain, rain!

Thunderstorms and torrential rain here in Edinburgh in the past few days. I had an empty bucket in the garden, just measured the water that had collected in it since Friday - 6cm/2.25 inches!! No need to water the garden for a bit
Mostly flowers, some fruit and veg, at the seaside in Edinburgh.

I'm sick of it, every time i think the allotment's going to dry out enough to go and do something there, the rain tips down again. The paths are all squelchy, the plants are all beaten down and rotting, the slugs and snails are having a party. It's too wet to even enjoy going there to harvest stuff, no doubt I'll have some marrows to deal with when I get down there.
I'm just happy I'm not a poor tourist trying to enjoy the festival!

        I feel for you.
Unless things change today, sky is dark at the moment - I've got the other extreme
Most of the showers have missed us, we've been dry all summer and I've lost crops because I couldn't keep up with the watering (no hosepipes allowed on the plots)
Gardeners always talk about the weather - cos it's never right, is it.

I'm with the waterlogged grapes - overflowing waterbutts, waterlogged soil, branches and lots of leaves blown off trees. Luckily,no damage spotted so far though a few trees down nearby.

Never mind, the sun's out today and everything is refreshed.

We have had the wind and rain as well.
Think we only got the end of it.
Lovely and sunny today and yesterday was lovely as well.

Barrio and I will do a reverse rain dance to send the clouds and rain to those grapes who need it. One, two, THREE!!!!

                    Hope it works.

You’re very welcome to it. It’s been awful recently. Loads of torrential rain and thunderstorms. Can’t remember when I last had to water the garden. It’s been worse where we are than other areas of Scotland. Am hoping my celeriac will grow well not much else is at the moment.

Rain or shine, I never water my garden - only the GH and seedlings in trays.
