  • Any broad beans or peas I can sow now to crop this year?

    Polytunnel now covered.
    Raised beds complete-ish.
Is there any possibility of a crop this year off broad beans or peas sown now ?

Going to take a chance with runners and dwarf French beans.

sow early peas - broad beans are quite tough, so should do OK with a bit of protection

Early peas should have time to crop, but powdery mildew can be a real problem late in the year. Plant them somewhere with plenty of air flow, keep them well watered but don't get the leaves wet.

Most broad beans are planted in autumn for picking the following year - but this one could be sown and picked this year.
