    Phone scam

    I received a text yesterday informing me i had a delivery from Amazon and also that I had been third in a competition and to acknowledge I had received the delivery, I am waiting on a delivery but not till Friday but I have never passed on my phone number, nor have I entered any competition, so be aware that you might get something like this and that it is a scam.
    I take if I had acknowledged the text my phone could have been hacked, and they could have accessed all my information and I wouldn't be too chuffed for someone to see that I am skint
    it may be a struggle to reach the top, but once your over the hill your problems start.

        They could just be using autodiallers. Don't reply as they'll know they've got a live number.

        Check with you network provider. This is spam. O2 ask you to forward message to 7726 with the number it came from. They'll then try to take down the SIM.

          Surely in this technological age there should be a way of stopping the scammers. I am sick of getting calls on the landline supposedly from t@lkt@lk (who I do not have an account with) saying there is a problem with my internet. The automated calls with a recorded message: press 1 to be scammed or press 2 to be ripped off are even worse. I can't even vent my anger on them.

            You should be able to block that particular number on your phone and delete the offending text.
