  • No fruit on thornless blackbury

We moved here three years ago. In the garden is a thornless blackberry that has not produced any fruit yet.

Each year it has flowered well but the fruits do not develop. The New Years growth looks very healthy. But the previous years canes and leaves start to look rusty as the season goes on.

It could be twenty years or more old. Might it be saved or should I dig it out and start a new one? I don’t have much spare space so a new on might have to go in a pot.

    Any advice appreciated

If it's that old, it might be time to get a new one, but it seems that lack of pollinators due to the spring weather is affecting a fair amount of different fruits around the UK. Not sure a vigorous and hungry plant like a bramble would do well for long in a pot though.
