  • I'm looking for a reliable cauli variety

Last season we grew 'all year round' cauliflowers and didn't get a single one.
    Every single one blew.
We assumed that it might have been down to it being a hot summer, so this year we tried again.
Yay, we got one ….. out of about 10, we just pulled 9 up and lobbed them in the compost heap.

Whilst we still have a little time left, i'm looking for inspiration for a variety which might be less prone to blowing.

    Any tips please.

I have the best results with the ones I overwinter, Maystar or Aalsmeer. Aalsmeer are ready Aprilish, Maystar wouldyou believe in May. They tend to look pretty wrecked by early Spring but then big, solid tasty caulis. I've never had any luck with All the year round. I have had better results with every other cauliflower I have tried. My soil is heavy clay.

I grow Romanesc, the green ones, only one I like eating but do seem a bit more reliable for getting a summer crop.
