  • Propagating from hedges?

I want to get more flower species into the hedge that borders my plot. Round here, the hedges are thick with dog rose and honeysuckle - what's the best way of propagating from both, please?

And any tips for getting them established in an already established hawthorn and blackthorn hedge?

    Thank you!

depends on how many you want really - if its just a few cuttings and/or layering is the simplest and quickest - if a lot, then seed will give you 100's but takes longer.

as for staring them off a small trowel and a hole is all that's needed - easier to do in Autumn/Winter when oyu can see without so many leaves in the way - if you hit a dry spell in the first 6 months then obviously watering may be necessary.

Mostly its about time, you don't get instant results with this sort of gardening + I'd always do a few extra than you think you need.
