2019 raised beds

    2019 raised beds

    Bed no1 is the roots bed this year, some beetroots and 4 different types of carrots, sown in succession, but already most have caught up.

    Bed no2 has some peas at the front, then seed grown mammoth rd onions, then some radish, pak choi spring onions, more radish and leeks, by end of summer there will hopefully be some huge onions in there lol.

    Bed no3 is quite empty just now, theres a few peas at the top and some dwarf French beans, the front is waiting for the trench celery experiment(if you go to the under cover thread, you might catch a glimpse of said celery

    They are some very chunky raised beds. I like those a lot.

      Railway sleeper sized chunks from travis perkins(sure other suppliers will do them), cutting them in half for the ends was a joy(not), two sleepers high stacked on their edges and glued and screwed together, you can sit on them whilst planting/weeding etc and will probably out last me lol.

        looking good - just for reference for others, if you buy from a decent supplier they're nearly always happy to do something like sawing timber in half for you at no extra cost.

          They are brilliant Burnie, my raised bed have had it. They are rotting. I've been pulling them up this year.

            Builders yards supplying the trade rarely have the equipment to do this, you can buy slightly smaller sized timber(including half sizes) in the like of Dobbies GC's, but I wanted the longer and bigger cross section timbers.
