  • Bells of Ireland has me beaten!

Hi all. I'm on my 3rd year attempting to grow Sarah Ravens Bells of Ireland.
So far no germination at all. Despite following instructions to the letter. I have had 2 seeds germinate this year but whilst the seedling leaf is the same as a googled image there's only one leaf on each. What on earth is going on. Has anyone else had problems with this plant. .

I haven't had much luck either. They need moist stratification. Best put between damp kitchen towel in a tub in the fridge for a week or so. I couldn't be bothered!
I will autumn sow later on in the year - if they are happy where they are they should self seed so worth planting up the couple you have.
Not sure about the one leaf? Maybe just a little early to compare....I think mine only have one leaf at this stage.

They are temperamental to germinate. I have grown them a couple of times different ways and they definitely do what they want

I’ve given up on them. Cannot get them to germinate at all, and have tried for at least five years.
I never ever see plants for sale either, and I’m always hanging around Farmers Markets and small nurseries.
Perhaps we just need absolutely fresh seed.
        Who knows!

Ooh farendwomen im not sure hanging around Farmers market and small nurseries sounds a healthy past time ha ha. But it's good to know I am not the only person who has problems with this blighter!
I really need some foliage plants for cutting and it looked a nice option. Funny you should mention it though as I don't recall seeing plants either. Thanks for your help folks. Any more advice very welcome. I may try the kitchen roll and fridge method ( oh dear that sounds smutty too, sorry)
I do find seeds that have to remain uncovered on soil surface hit and miss.

Euphorbia oblongata- once it's in your garden you will never get rid of it so you will always have some to cut. These photos were taken a few weeks back, flowers most of the year.
