  • Got climbing roses everywhere on my allotment!

    Hi all

I took on my allotment a few weeks ago and one thing I have discovered when taking up all the paths is that the seven climbing roses along the side seeded everywhere last year! Because there was little maintenance over the warm months, there are small bushes forming everywhere, and I think they have sent a load of runners out too. Is digging them all out going to be the best way of getting them out or am I missing a trick? cheers

Are you sure they are roses? Strange to self seed. Have you got a photo?

Perhaps they're Brambles, the stems do look quite similar tbh

Have had roses self seed. Just pull out and compost, shred if necessary.

Be they roses or brambles some thornproof gloves are a good investment.

If you don't fancy digging chop them off at ground level and hit new shoots with glyphosate.
