  • Chinese Kale - Kailaan

I'm looking through a seed catalogue and I see something new, that I've not seen before - Chinese kale, called Kailaan.

    Has anyone tried it?

It is delicious to eat. Like a more tender sprouting broccoli. I can buy it locally but it is expensive so I plan to grow it this year. I have never tried before but it seems to be a fast growing brassica so hopefully straightforward! Would love to hear if anyone has any experience of growing?

Yes I have some....it's ok. Imagine a very skinny tenderstem broccoli with more leaves and less bud. It's a bit like that
Are you looking at Nickys Nursery catalyst by any chance? They have a huge range of Oriental veg, maybe start off with their Siamese Dragon Mix.....it has a mix of stuff that you can use as salad or as a stir fry. Good way of trying a variety at the same time x

Texsel greens are delicious. I got a few carrier bags off a friend once...they said they are easy to grow. I'm trying them this year.

Oooh how interesting! So both sound really good! It's the Chiltern seeds catalogue for spring 2019 that I'm looking at - mainly for the most wonderful pictures that they do... but those two caught my eye.

            Thank you all!
