    Small seed starter micro tunnel.

    I was out and about around town yesterday (pub crawl)
    On a piece of waste ground I spotted what looked like the plastic cover off an office flourescent light. It was about 5 foot long and had a curved profile. I assume someone fly tipped it.
    It would have made a good mini propagator to start off lettuce etc. Also for protecting peas.

    Unfortunatly I didn't recover it as I didn't want to carry it around the pubs or on the bus!

    What a good idea! I've got one buried at the back of the shed - kept it in case I found a use for it, but never thought of that. I may dig it out now and use it as a cloche for seed rows.

    It's not see through though, but opaque white. Do you think it will still work?

      Yes it should get them off to a good start. Remove once up and strong.

          Had a brain wave yesterday so I will try it out today.
          I was pouring a glass of pop from one of those large plastic bottles.
          Now I often use these bottles cut in half as mini cloches to start lettuce etc.
          But I thought, what if I cut off the top and bottom and then cut the bottle length ways.
          Then staple the sections together to make a long mini tunnel.
          Will try and get a picture when I make it.

            Seemed to work.
            Take 3 large plastic pop bottles.
            Cut the top of three and bottom off two.
            Then cut all three length ways.
            You should now have two end pieces and four middle pieces.
            Pierce all six in the middle so you can push a metal tent peg through to hold them down.
            Assemble end to end on the ground.
            I have a picture and will up load in the morning.
            Wifey is hogging main PC at the moment!

                  Was thinking of a row of sping onions under one.
                  Probably a third of a row and then again each week.

                    Jimmy iv'e got 3 of them light covers and all diferent widths but about the same lengths (6ft) and I cover guttering with them, ones already got peas in it. atb Dal.
