  • ID and propagation help please

Can anyone identify this very common foliage that is often included in supermarket bouquets please?
It’s very dark green and leathery and long outlasts whatever flowers are included with it.

Also as you can see from the second photo, it has started producing little baby plantlets from the leaf vein. I’d like to try and keep these going.
The question is do I just remove the whole leaf and put it flat on the surface of potting compost ( if so which way up, plantlet down on compost or plantlet up in the air.)
Or should I cut the leaf up and put the pieces in the compost vertically???

Not sure what the plant is but I think if I was propagating it Id take a leaf with the plant-let on it and split it carefully down the central vein, then press the cut side gently down on a pot of damp compost , then put a plastic bag over it.

Thanks Nick . I’ve got five leaves that each have a little plantlet growing.
I’ll try that with one of them and report back.

I think it's ruscus. You can also get soft ruscus.

Yes - I think you're right, Scarlet and I'm wrong. How embarrassing.

That's not fair - you're an "expert" - and I think its "Guild" not "Build"

The pics on Scarlet’s link look as though it’s flowers and berries that grow from the leaf rather than a new plant but it can’t hurt to try.
