  • Cheap bedding plant help wanted please

I know it is usually around now there are a couple of companies that offer stupid bedding plant offers then what turns up is 100 odd teeny weeny farty things you have to nurture through the worst months. The only thing is I can't remember the company names.

Anyone know who I mean or if you see any offers that fit the bill please let me know.

    Thank you as always

Yep Jerseyplantsdirect and they're usually sold as 170 teeny weeny farty things.
I believe Gardeningdirect is the same outfit.

Jersey Plants Direct where you can purchase different sized plants, and if I remember correctly VC seems to like getting her begonias from there, as I believe she has purchased several? hundred from them
She must like begonias, or perhaps it was a bargain
it may be a struggle to reach the top, but once your over the hill your problems start.

I bought plants from Jersey Plants last year. When I opened the package about 50 sciarid flies flew out. I wasn't pleased as I opened it in my utility room where I had a load of other plants growing. Took me weeks to kill the blighters, and I still get them coming back.

I emailed Jersey Plants to say I didn't expect this from a professional nursery. No reply. I have unsubscribed from their emails. Perhaps others have had better experiences.

I've never had that sort of problem with their plants.
Last year I ordered a lucky dip hanging basket collection - turned out to be geraniums, petunias, nemesia and lobelia. The lobelia were very straggly and tangled so I contacted JPD and said I was disappointed with the lobelia but very pleased with the rest. I thought they'd sent me replacement lobelia, but they didn't they gave me a credit for the complete purchase.
These plants, in the baskets are still flowering in the GH today, as are the few lobelia I salvaged.

That sounds like a good lucky dip VC. If the price was right maybe worth a second chance. I'd just make sure I opened the parcel outside!

I just tend to buy in garden centre after a bad experience with Parkers bulbs. Their bulbs are great and I will continue to order those but the tray of seedlings I bought a few years ago were dead.
I have millions of seeds though. I am going to try to grow more myself from seed.
