  • Metaldehyde Slug Pellets to be banned from 2020

The ferric phosphate ones will still be allowed, as they are less harmful to wildlife.

Lets hope the Song Thrushes can recover, wonder how many people will go out and buy stockpiles of the vile stuff?

If they're that bad why aren't I knee deep in corpses?

I did find an article in the Guardian which went on about hedgehogs but omitted to mention predation by badgers.

It’s a risk to wildlife but carry on using & buying it,it should be taken off the shelves now,if it harmed humans it would be removed.

              1. Because they die on someone else's plot.

              2. Because that's the kind of story you read in the Telegraph. (Which reports that hedgehogs are eaten by badgers because humans have destroyed hedgehog habitat and hiding places and badgers are hungry.)

Well I've stopped using them as they get eaten by rats.
I used to put them round capsicums in the green house as even a small slug can ruin a nice pepper but they seem to attract rats who were eating them up over night and the slugs were still ruining the peppers. The iron phosphate ones are no better.
