  • French Millet can it be grown in UK

Hi all. Just been looking back at previous questions about growing millet in the UK. My hens love millet which I buy in bulk for them. Having just ordered some sprays of French Millet for their christmas stockings (!) I intend to see if I can get some seeds to germinate in the summer. Has anyone else successfully grown millet ? (previous posts don't seem to mention if they got a crop) Any tips?

I have a packet of RSPB Millet (Foxtail) Hylander Seeds from Mr Fothergill's Seeds and Plants

    Haven't grown it though!

This Australian site indicates it does well in light soils...

Thanks - I will give it a try. The millet I feed to the hens is pretty cheap but the French stuff is a lot more and not organic, which is what I like my hens to have. I think my soil might be too heavy for the French but nothing ventured....
