Apple Tree Disease Problem

I wopuldn't worry too much about the blossom rot as long as you are getting enough through to being pollinated. The most likely culprit for the maggots is Codlin Moth for which I would start with pheromone traps in the Spring when the flowers are out. Hygiene can help too, if you pick off all the affected apples and bin them early enough - probably too late for this year, also if you have them its quite likely any nearby trees in neighborhood gardens will too.

Yes I agree the pheromone traps are quite good, I've got one in my two apple trees, right now I've counted about 20 in one and apprx. 10 in the other one. In four years the codling moth problem has reduced considerably.

They are a tad pricey but you can buy replacement 'lures' so don't need tobuy the whole package each year.
